In Germany, the proportion of electricity generated from sustainable sources has risen significantly, as reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. According to the Federal Statistical Office, more than 60% derived from renewable sources like wind, solar and water in the third quarter.

Even if the figures were slightly down from 2022, a large majority continue to back the expansion of renewable energy, the website reports, citing a new survey by the Renewable Energy Agency (AEE).

The emissions of carbon dioxide from fossil fuels were again at a record level this year. However, according to a report on the carbon budget evaluated by the Tagesschau news programme, there is also some good news.
