Many businesses faced rising energy costs last year. It therefore makes particular sense for energy-intensive skilled craft businesses to invest in energy efficiency. The SME Initiative for Energy Reforms and Climate Change Mitigation helps them with this, and has now been extended until 2025. It is a joint project of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts.

The initiative offers skilled craft businesses tailored instruments and targeted support on energy efficiency and climate action. For example, experts visit the companies to advise them on improvements to energy efficiency.

These and other questions are answered by free online guidelines on „Energy efficiency in the skilled craft sector”. An e-tool helps the company to collate and evaluate the key energy-related data and thus provides an important basis for decisions about the way forward. It also generates an individual carbon footprint and is specially designed to meet the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises.
